EcoHub awarded by US State Department to drive mFish Initiative
EcoHub has been appointed by the Secretary’s Office of Global Partnerships (S/GP) of the US State Department to drive the development of mFish. Launched on June 17, 2014 at Secretary John Kerry’s “Our Ocean” Conference, mFish is a public-private partnership that aims to capitalize on the revolution in mobile technology in order to improve the lives of people and the sustainability of fisheries. Mobile services can be used to help collect and analyze catch data, monitor illegal fishing, trace seafood along supply chains, and improve fishing safety. Through agreements and partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and industry, mFish is data free, is HTML based with no application download necessary, and as such has minimal technological and economic barriers to access.
